Arizona Stock Exchange An electronic single price auction trading system. AZX auctions are modern, computerized versions of call markets. In call markets, an auctioneer called out trial prices to determine the amount of buying and selling interest at each possible price. The price was raised if there was too much buying interest and lowered if there was too much selling interest until he found the price at which the interest balanced. This became the single price at which all trading was done that day. An account with AZX's executing broker or a broker who has an account with the firm is required to trade on the exchange.
